Your guide, a local Maasai, has an unrivalled knowledge of the areas surrounding the houses at Ol Lentille, which he is more than happy to share with you. The Laikipiak Maasai are responsible for looking after the Kijabe Group Ranch, where Ol Lentille is situated. Around a hundred Kijabe residents helped with the construction of the Sanctuary at Ol Lentille, and which is owned by them, so your holiday really couldn’t be any more cultural or community-based.
Take a guided visit to a local school or the Manyatta craft village and learn about Maasai traditional cooking techniques, house building, animal husbandry, musical instrument construction, games and beadwork.
Your stay at the Sanctuary really depends on you. We understand that everybody wants something different which is why we offer such a diverse range of activities to guests. Whatever you are hoping to get out of your time with us we can guarantee an unforgettable experience tailored to your needs.
A safari holiday in Africa. It’s something we’ve all dreamed of. For over a hundred years, Africa was known as the Undiscovered Continent. These days, the continent is thriving and developing, but it’s still a great place for adventure. At Ol Lentille we offer a luxury service amidst the African wilderness. Our four private lodges are sat on the side of a hill overlooking the plains of Kenya. You have to admit, when you can wake up in a king size bed and be greeted by the sight of the sun rising over the hills, that’s pretty special.
Of course, looking’s no good on its own. Once you’re there, you’ll want to get out and explore Kenya. Usually, this means booking yourself onto a scheduled tour and cramming yourself into an overcrowded jeep with no guarantee that your driver even knows where he’s going. At Ol Lentille, our private 4x4s are here for you. You can ride on the roof for the best views, while our specially employed bush guides take you for a tour of the 20,000 acre private wildlife conservancy. And there’s no waiting around to catch a tour either; we go when it suits you.
For those of you who like to take your time and savour your delights, we can also arrange horse- and camel-back tours. That way, you’ll be sure to have time to take everything in. You can go for a short tour if you like, but a longer trek opens up the chance to experience another wonder of Africa; a night out beneath the clear, starry sky of the plains. In the morning, you’ll awake to a top quality meal cooked by waiting chefs.
When you’re out on safari here, the animals you want to keep an eye out for are some of the most endangered in Africa. Our conservation area abounds with elephant, African wild dog, leopard, striped and spotted hyena, greater kudu, and klipspringer, as well as the more common species
Let Africa remain undiscovered no longer.
