Philanthropy for Community Projects
Get involved (have fun and do good) with our community projects in Kenya, Africa
The opportunities here for guest philanthropy are large. Since opening in 2007 guests have engaged with us in helping us to analyse and identify massive improvements in conservation, education and healthcare. They bring their minds, experience, and enthusiasm to bear on massive and complex problems, not only their money.
As a result, as the Ol Lentille Trust we have just (January 2013) completed construction of a 24-bed hospital; we are building the area’s first Secondary School, have constructed 2 Primary Schools, erected classrooms at a further 6 schools, and provided a solar-operated borehole for clean water in the community. We are able to employ 27 conservation Rangers, 35 Community Health Workers, a Community Nurse, and 21 teachers. In the past 3 years we have been able to provide Bursaries to 28 University and college students and 86 Secondary School pupils.
As well, two of our projects have attracted European Union grants.
In late 2012 we were the proud recipients of a Virgin Responsible Tourism Award for Poverty Reduction.
Community Projects in Africa
Volunteering on Community Projects in Kenya, Africa
As well as offering luxury safari holidays, we can provide opportunities to get involved in our community projects in conservation, education, and healthcare. We have hosted a number of volunteers and gap students, some of whom have been former guests or their grown-up children.
