Perched on the flanks of a wooded rock kopje in the heart of our private conservation area is The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille – a collection of four private, full-service, fully staffed holiday houses.

Location

We are situated on the Maasai community-owned Kijabe Group Ranch, on the far northern escarpment of the Laikipia Plateau with enormous views to the craggy peak of Mt Kenya, the Samburu sacred mountain Ol Olokwe, the Matthews Range and the Karisia Hills.

Lodges

Our four star luxury safari lodges are perfect for taking in some of our spectacular scenery. Open your curtains and feel like you’re in a scene from Disney’s The Lion King as you relax with breakfast (cooked by our international chefs) on your private deck. We have houses to accommodate couples, families and groups, from the magnificent Chiefs House sleeping up to six, to the cosy Eyrie – perfect for honeymooners. Spend the evenings snuggled up with a bottle of wine beside your open fire or venture outside and relax under the stars in your outdoor bath amongst the rocks.

Conservation

Our private community conservation area is 20,000 acres of grassy hills and deep valleys, heavily wooded with many acacia species and African olives. Its sandy laghas (dry river beds) are bordered by great stands of fig and fever trees. It is named for Ol Lentille, a 1977m hill, from the top of which (an easy scramble) an astonishing panorama unfolds.

Endangered African Species

The conservancy is home to the endangered African wild dog, Grevy’s zebra, greater kudu, leopard, striped and spotted hyena, and klipspringer. Head on up to our viewing deck where you can capture the incredible Kenyan wildlife from the comfort of our bar and lounge. Those wanting a closer look can head out with their safari guide and see the African wonders by day or night.
