Your day often starts with a leisurely breakfast unless you want to do an early morning activity. Breakfast is served at the time of your choice followed by your chosen private activity. The idea of staying with us is a relaxing one and we don’t enforce early starts like lots of other lodges in Africa!

The Colonel’s House has a modern kitchen, where your personal butler is usually found. He’ll bring you your meals, but you’re welcome to help yourself to snacks and cool drinks whenever you like. Our talented chef makes great food from the freshest ingredients. All our pasta, bread and ices are made from scratch at the lodge.

Don’t feel like eating at home? We’re happy to bring your food to the library, the pool or even the bush. The choice is yours – there are no set meal times here.

Our bush dinners are really popular – there’s something unforgettable about hearing the close by rasping of a leopard over the clinking of silverware, while a bonfire burns nearby.

While your butler is at your disposal for food and drink, it’s your Maasai guide who will tend to your more active needs.

The Colonels House comes with exclusive use of a 4×4 private safari vehicle and your own personal Maasai guide ensuring maximum privacy and allowing you to experience our special part of Laikipia at your own pace. Your guide will accompany you on all activities outside the lodge and you will learn all about their culture, history and traditions whilst they show you their ancient lands.

Your personal Maasai guide will help you get to know the stunning wilderness, with its abundance of plants, birds, and animals. He can answer any question about the Maasai culture and is an expert on the ‘small stuff’ too – wildflowers, insects, beetles, butterflies and moths.

There are plenty of ways to get around our 40,000 acre private conservancy. If you don’t feel like driving or walking when viewing some of the Kenyan wildlife, you can ride a quad bike, mountain bike, camel, or horse.

The thrill of a close encounter with a herd of elephants, wild dog or a dusk leopard will give you plenty of great stories to tell when you get back home.

Hugely spacious this is a two bedroom large villa with lots of style, character and charm. Really unique, personal and private and great for friends or a family.

This villa features stunning campaign style décor. You’ll feel like you’re truly in the bush home of a well-travelled military man; it certainly has a very “Out of Africa” feel to it. With brass-bound furniture, oriental carpets, and a beautiful Knole sofa in front of an open fire, you feel a connection with a bygone era of comfort and style.

The Colonel’s House is built on two floors, there are two large bedrooms on the upper floor where you can choose king or twin beds. Both are luxuriously comfortable with delightfully soft bedding. Each of the bedrooms has a large private terrace, accessed through double glass doors to enjoy and absorb the panoramic views. They also feature dressing rooms, sunken baths, and a roofless shower room. In the passageway between the bedrooms there’s a fine example of hand-made Kitengela stained glass. A sweeping staircase leads to the sitting room – a great place for pre-dinner drinks and after-dinner storytelling.  Across the courtyard is the dining room which is decorated with antique maps and where you can have intimate meals together. Outside on the large terrace there is a small plunge-pool to cool off from the midday sunshine.

There are spectacular views, highlights include the snow-capped rugged peaks of Mount Kenya and the nearby elephant watering hole. Seeing these majestic animals stopping for a drink is a truly unique experience and is just one of the many amazing sights to behold in Ol Lentille’s 40,000 acre private conservancy.
